SZVAN Showcases 5G Front-Haul and Open RAN Optics at MWC Barcelona 2024
February 26–29, 2024 | Fira Gran Via, Barcelona, Spain
SZVAN Electronics returned to Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2024 (February 26–29) with an expanded focus on 5G optical infrastructure and Open RAN connectivity. With 100,000+ visitors, MWC 2024 was the largest edition in five years, reflecting the telecom industry's renewed investment in network transformation.
At the SZVAN meeting room, the company demonstrated its 25G SFP28 front-haul modules with extended industrial temperature support (−40°C to +85°C), designed for outdoor cell-site deployments. A new product introduction was the 50G SFP56 module for mid-haul applications, supporting the transition from 4G to 5G-Advanced networks.
SZVAN's CWDM and DWDM SFP+ modules for mobile back-haul drew interest from Middle Eastern and African operators deploying long-distance fiber rings. The company's ability to provide compatible optics for Nokia, Huawei, and ZTE platforms — all from a single supplier — was a key selling point.
"Open RAN is creating new opportunities for compatible optical module vendors," said SZVAN's telecom segment manager. "Operators want flexibility in their optical component sourcing, and our multi-vendor compatibility testing gives them confidence."
During the event, SZVAN signed a distribution agreement with a leading Middle Eastern telecom equipment reseller, expanding its reach into Saudi Arabia's massive 5G rollout program.
